Denzel Washington & John David Washington

Denzel Washington is an American actor, director, and producer. Fans have dubbed him as the actor who “reconfigured the image of classic movie stardom,” with most of his roles characterized by grace, integrity, compassion, and inner power. Since the 1980s, Washington has gained widespread praise for his film work. That includes portraying people like Steve Biko, a South African anti-apartheid leader, in Cry Freedom (1987), civil rights activist and Muslim minister Malcolm X in Malcolm X (1992), and boxer Rubin “Hurricane” Carter in The Hurricane (1999), to name a few.

Around the same age, his son, John David Washington, began a career in acting and received notable credit roles. He was a regular on HBO’s comedy series Ballers from 2015 to 2019. He won Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations for his performance as Ron Stallworth in Spike Lee’s 2018 crime film BlacKkKlansman. He also appeared in Christopher Nolan’s science fiction action thriller Tenet in 2020.
