Julia Roberts and Lyle Lovett had a romantic relationship that ended almost as quickly as it had begun. Even though both Roberts and Lovett appeared in Robert Altman’s 1992 film The Player, the actress has stated that she and Lovett met through mutual friends.They were friends at first but found solace with each other after their previous relationships ended. Roberts and Lovett shocked the media-consuming community when they married in a small Indiana town after a three-week whirlwind romance. Although their friends and colleagues were suspicious of their relationship, Roberts was head over heels in love with Lovett.

Unfortunately, their partnership began to face several difficulties from that point on. It was difficult for the couple to find time for one another, mainly after Roberts left to finish her film The Pelican Brief. After less than two years, Roberts and Lovett legalized their separation with the help of their lawyers.
